October 2020 – This and That

Steve Moseley is called an “Outsider Artist” meaning that he has no formal training but is a self-taught artist.  He paints, sculpts, and creates Whimsey Bottles, also called Patience Bottles, which are named this way because it takes patience to create and assemble the art inside the bottle. Moseley’s subject matter pushes the topics of sex, politics and religion and he generally puts a spin on his piece to provoke thought.  One of the most intricate pieces, called The Last McSupper drew the interest of the Lindsey Gallery in Columbus, Ohio and thus began a mutual interest in the same Outsider Artists. His art has been represented by the Red Truck Gallery in New Orleans at the LA Art Fair, as well as Miami’s Art Basel.  Moseley’s art is ever-evolving and while continuing to produce intriguing Patience Bottles, he is using the same sense of humor in his paintings, sculptures, and collage which will be exhibited for the first time at ARTHOUSE. Moseley is inspired by other artists as well as by controversial topics of the day, which he finds no end of inspiration to create his next piece.
