ARTHOUSE on R is pleased to present the art exhibition “Do No Harm,” featuring the artwork of Craig Martinez.

Craig Martinez will be presenting both paintings and sculpture in an exhibition featured in the ARTHOUSE Gallery, 1021 R Street, Floor 2, in Sacramento’s historic and creative R Street Corridor from August 6 – September 8, 2026. The opening reception will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 5 – 8 PM with an Artist Talk at 6 PM.

War Horse

Having worked as professional graphic artist for over 20 years, Craig Martinez decided to make a major career change in order to pursue his fine art career. Now working as a full-time instructor at American River Community College, Craig Martinez is able to more seriously focus his creative energy on his own fine art.

Craig Martinez uses reclaimed materials for his sculptures. Images of destruction and rebirth appear in his oil paintings. In both mediums he is heavily influenced by historical, cultural and spiritual issues. Jungian psychology, William Blake poetry, Catholicism and mental health feature in his creative process. His world view in based on a fundamental belief in redemption.

In addition to showing his work locally, Craig Martinez has shown in Southern California and in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He graduated from UC Davis in 1986.

In addition to the exhibit, the ARTHOUSE on R’s 21 resident artists will open their studios to the public for Second Saturday, August 8, from 5-8 PM.
