Working as an architect for over 40 years designing buildings built an intuitive base for the shapes and forms of my work. My body of ceramic work comes from the desire to draw from the influences of my career in architecture, the desire to create objects that are simple in design and possess the clarity in form that I have always been drawn to.
The designs are restrained by my affinity towards minimalism. Guided by a commitment to essential elements and purity of form, I have created vessels with the intentional use of structure to provide a framework to create a balance between solid and void. Transparency serves as a lens, revealing the inner dialogues between material and light, while the cylindrical voids disrupt conventional structural expectations. Together, these elements compose a minimalist narrative that transcends functionality, encouraging an appreciation for the purity of geometric pattern and the quiet elegance of non-utilitarian ceramics.
