Living the California dream, the beach is calling! What is better than a day at the beach? Nothing! The sights, the sounds, the salty fresh air, sand between your toes, walking with your best friend, the beach is a happy place. Thoughts of being seaside provoke visions of sun and fun. Lev and Ortiz capture that emotion with delight and whimsy.

Tj Lev, a resident artist of ARTHOUSE on R, is working beyond her small studio walls for this series. Working larger than usual, her new paintings have been in process for the last year and have never been on display for the public until now. All works reflect her love for the beach and wacky sense of humor in bold layers of fun, colorful acrylics. She is a Sacramento native and currently resides in the Southside Park neighborhood of downtown Sacramento.

LaLa Ortiz was born in San Francisco, California and lived just across the highway from the Pacific Ocean. Long walks along the beach, family time at Playland, The Cliff House, and what remains of the Sutro Baths and Gardens inspire her art. Informed by romantic vintage images and the nostalgic stories of a vanished way of life, this new collection of playful characters has emerged, using a variety of sculpting mediums, paints and glazes. She works out of her studio, Redwood Coast Creative Arts, in Sacramento.
